I want to say right off the bat, that Caesarean can be life-saving operations and they definitely have a place in birth. Jules and I have both had a Caesarean (Jules' 1st baby and my 3rd baby) and boy are we grateful for them, however, we have seen a steady increase in Caesarean and there are many risk factors that go with them, so being informed and knowing your choices around your birth, help to decrease the chance of needing surgery to give birth.

In our latest statistics, 29% of women in a public hospital give birth by Caesarean and 43% of women in a private hospital have a caesarean section. In 1991, our Caesarean rate was 18%. We have seen a steady increase in Caesareans over the last 20 years.
